Programs for Infant Care

Leaving your baby in someone else’s care for the first time is one of the hardest things a parent does. The questions that come with it are completely natural. Will someone notice when she is hungry? Will he be held when he needs to be? Will the people caring for my child actually know my child?

At My First Step, our infant care programme is built around one belief: that the youngest children deserve the most attentive care. Not just a safe room to spend the day in. Real, warm and responsive care from caretakers who genuinely know your baby, their rhythms, their cues and their particular way of telling you something is not right.

We welcome infants below 2 years old into a dedicated infant room, separate from the rest of the centre, designed entirely around the needs of the very youngest children.

A Space Designed for Them

Our infant room is calm, warm and unhurried. It is where your baby will sleep, feed, explore and simply be, without the noise and stimulation of an older group around them.

The room is equipped with baby cots for rest, a dedicated baby play area for floor time and sensory exploration, and everything else a young child needs to feel safe and settled through the day. The pace here is deliberately slow. We follow your baby’s lead rather than a rigid schedule, because at this age what a child needs in any given moment matters more than what the timetable says.

What We Focus On

Preschool Caring Educators

Responsive Care

Everything at this stage begins with feeling safe. Our caretakers respond to each infant’s cues throughout the day, picking up, soothing, talking and engaging rather than leaving babies to manage on their own. With a ratio of one caretaker to every three infants, every child receives the consistent attention that healthy early development depends on.

Rest and Routine

Young infants need sleep and they need predictability. Nap times happen in the infant room, in the cots, with the calm and consistency that helps babies settle. We build gentle routines around each child’s natural rhythm so the day feels familiar and secure rather than unpredictable.

Language and Communication

Language and Communication

Even before your baby says their first word, they are absorbing everything they hear. Our caretakers talk to infants constantly throughout the day, narrating, singing, describing and responding. This is not background noise. It is the foundation of language development and it starts from the very first day.

Sensory Exploration

Babies learn through their senses long before they learn through instruction. Soft textures, gentle sounds, light and shadow, the feel of different surfaces are the experiences that stimulate the developing brain at this stage. Our baby play area and sensory activities give infants safe, purposeful opportunities to explore the world around them at their own pace.

Physical Development in Petaling Jaya's Prechool

Physical Development

Tummy time, reaching, rolling, sitting and eventually pulling up, every physical milestone matters and every child reaches them at their own pace. We give infants the floor time, the encouragement and the space to develop physically without rushing them toward the next stage before they are ready.

Your Child Will Not Stop Growing and Neither Do We

Each stage at My First Step is designed to meet your child exactly where they are. When the time comes, our Toddler programme is ready for them.
